It’s small it’s intimate.
Just the spot for a nice evening.
Drinks to wet your palate.
Cocktails, Beers, and Spirits
For you to savor.
And the wines to dance
around your taste buds.
Mixing with the organic pizza.
Enhancing the flavors
That David brought you.
Nice music, nice tone.
Be sure to come for the poetry
And don’t come alone.
The words are art.
Just like the pictures framed on the wall.
So come to Lucid and
Share it with somebody.

This was my proposal after supreme customer service and a cirque’ show of amazing entrees and décor at Grill 29. Dim lighting, intimate seating, and time were on my side, trying a new restaurant in the Providence area. Timing was truly everything, and they rushed nothing. After making my selections, Anthony, our server, told me all good things take time, so his recommendation was the Salad 29 until the cheese fondue was ready.
This quaint salad reminded me of a conch shell, stuffed with small treats. A soft tortilla shell, molded in a conical shape, spilled an array of walnuts, spinach greens, flakes of blue cheese, and sweet, crunchy chunks of apple across my plate. If that wasn’t enough mixture, it was drizzled with vinaigrette that left a punch on my palette. Good choice!
Just as I finished, the fondue arrived. With breadsticks built like a fort of legos, the gorgonzola cheese was nestled securely inside. Having never eaten gorgonzola, I had my doubts I would like it, however, this has become a classic choice. The sharp and pungent aroma met me before I had my first bite. Cheese makes everything better. At this point, we are 2 for 4. Will I make it to dessert?
No, I won’t. The stuff scallops, the main dish, took me out of the fight. I was extremely satisfied, portion-wise, but who knew hollandaise sauce could be so amazing, and is wonderful on EVERYTHING! Several snowballs of lobster mashes potatoes were strategically placed on my plate with vegetables sprinkled about. But I believe, truly, the scallops were picked from the sea just for me. They were pan-seared to perfection. I couldn’t have asked for a better presentation.
Anthony returned to the table merely to temp me. The offering of a rich, double-stacked tiramisu designed for the palm of my hand, was too much. However, I would like to see you again, you petite morsel of sugar, making this encounter a regular occurrence. Thank you Grill 29 for the experience.

Hush now…I’m dining with the divine.
Have you tasted something so good it lingers on your lips like a kiss?
There are flavors vying for my tongue’s affection and I am left with the remains.
Tattered images of an edible masterpiece; torn apart by my teeth, as they seek only to devour.
There is an on-going battle,
Starting in the kitchen,
Sneaking stealthily to my table,
Then boldly attacking the entrance to my smile.
This experience is like tasting food for the first time.
I long for the surprise.
I’m eager for the next bite.
