San Juan Cigars Rolling Event

5:00pm

From 5 - 6:30pm, Saturday, April 19, artisan Jason Farr will demonstrate cigar rolling and offer a limited number of Mo’s whiskey-infused Perejos for sale. Project V Distillery provided the whiskey, which imparts a deep, rich, caramel flavor with hints of coffee, making this an unforgettable cigar. San Juan Cigars is a small Northwest company that produces fine hand rolled cigars from outstanding South American tobaccos. We started making cigars as a challenge, to see if we could learn such a time-honored skill. Three years later, our method perfected, we began sharing our cigars with other enthusiasts. In December 2013, our company opened, providing the Northwest’s only handcrafted cigars, wrapped in highest quality Connecticut shade-grown leaves.

Sidewinder

7:00pm

Sidewinder is an interstellar soul-jazz ensemble. Unafraid to take on jazz, rearchitected rock, funk, and soul, they also sometimes venture into wild, unpredictable sonic departures. Sidewinder crosses boundaries while keeping the groove alive and the tunes real, bringing a tent-revival electricity to each show. Blending originals and standards, Sidewinder purveys the groove and explores uncharted sonic territories. They takes cues from the great jazz and soul-jazz legends of yore (Lee Morgan, Freddie Hubbard, Charles Mingus, Herbie Hancock, Grant Green, Wes Montgomery, McCoy Tyner, Lou Donaldson, Charles Lloyd, Rahsaan Roland Kirk) as well as more recent distillations (John Scofield, MM&W, the Bad Plus, Sonny Sharrock, Kenny Garrett). Sidewinder also explores artists not typically undertaken by a jazz ensemble (Nirvana, Jimi Hendrix, The Police, Radiohead, Cream, Pink Floyd, Steely Dan, The Beatles).
