Sidewinder is soul-jazz with attitude, unafraid to take on jazz, rearchitected rock, funk, and soul, sometimes venturing into wild, unpredictable sonic departures. Sidewinder crosses boundaries while keeping the groove alive and the tunes real, bringing a tent-revival electricity to each gig. Sidewinder takes it cue from the great jazz and soul-jazz legends of yore (Lee Morgan, Freddie Hubbard, Charles Mingus, Grant Green, Wes Montgomery, Lou Donaldson, Charles Lloyd, Rahsaan Roland Kirk) as well as more recent distillations (John Scofield, MM&W, the Bad Plus, Kenny Garrett). Sidewinder also explores artists not typically undertaken by a jazz ensemble (Nirvana, The Police, Jimi Hendrix, Steely Dan, The Beatles). Blending originals and standards, Sidewinder purveys the groove and explores uncharted sonic territories. James DeJoie --- Reeds/flute Jim Knodle --- Trumpet Everett Sarono --- Guitar Ryan Berg --- Bass Dylan Savage --- Drums
